Choosing a divorce lawyer over online forms

It’s no secret that computers are becoming increasingly essential to numerous aspects of our lives. In this modern age of social media, we are using technology as a communication tool to interact with others.

As you are reading this, you’re on either a desktop, tablet, or mobile device.

Despite how great this technology is, human interaction still serves a huge purpose. One of the ways this is true is when it comes to the divorce procedure.

We wanted to briefly break down the differences between hiring a divorce lawyer and using online divorce forms.

1.) As stated on divorceline.org, using an online divorce form site “means that you will represent your self and act as your own lawyer.” This carries some risk, especially since divorce laws vary per state and a generic form may or may not work for your situation.

2.) For any property owned, the dividing up of property can be complex. Generic divorce forms unfortunately cannot answer all questions involving each property division situation, nor will the forms guarantee your best interest in mind.

In both of these situations, hiring an experienced divorce lawyer will allow for three things: human interaction, having somebody that will personally listen to your case, and having somebody with the experience that can help your individual situation and make the appropriate judgment in terms of an outcome.

In the case that you don’t want the machines to rise up and to handle your divorce situation, we encourage you to email or call 337-704-7255 the Southern Oaks Law Firm team! Your situation is extremely important to you, so it’s extremely important to us.
